Hike to Stewart Falls

We went to the Sundance ski resort on Friday and rode up one of their lifts to go for a little hike. We were with Greg and Jill (Scott's sister). It was a bit more of a hike than I was expecting and ended up involving a lot more carrying of kids than I would have liked.

Here's Jill and Audrey on the lift ride up:
We actually made it! It was nice and refreshing by the falls. The hike was pretty hot and dusty. Sari and Kate were covered in dirt by the end.
By the end Scott was carrying Kate and Leah and I was carrying Sari.

On the way back we took a different route and it ended up being a steep climb up and then a steep climb back down to the lift. It may have been shorter but I think I would have preferred the more mild longer route. Kate did amazingly well for the first three fourths of the hike. Sari, on the other hand, did well for maybe the first fourth. I don't think she felt very well that day and she hates being hot. We listened to her whine/cry for the majority of the hike. Fun, fun! It did feel like a major accomplishment when we were riding back down on the lift having completed the whole hike with all our kids though!

Remember that summer that we hiked Timp Cave every day. I want to hike it with my children, but I'm pretty sure I'd feel like dying at the end; not sure how my children would handle it. I'm hiking Timp mountain on the night of the 20th; I'm doing a sunrise hike with Chris Gladden. Eli is coming and so is my sister. Not sure who else Chris invited. Your welcome to come if you want. I'm a little nervous, but I'm exicted for an outing without children. =)

Hiking with kids sometimes can be termed and "accomplishment" more than it can be called fun! Way to go! We've been there too!
