Sari's birthday celebrations were spread out over three days this year. On Friday we threw a friend party for her. It was the first one we've done, and now I'm glad I was able to hold it off for 6 years. It is a little chaotic! The kids all had a great time though. It was a pajama party. They decorated socks with puff paint to make slippers, played 'pin the slipper on the pajamas', musical pillows, and hot potato using a stuffed animal. Sari's cake was decorated with a moon and stars, and the kids watched Minnie Mouse's Pajama party while they played with the glow bracelets/necklaces I gave them. I think it was a success, but I'm going to try to only do that every other year, , at most.

On Saturday we headed to Brick Oven for lunch. The kids all got balloon animals and Sari got the customary sucker
sunday. After we headed to
WalMart where Sari and Kate got their ears pierced. It was a little bit of a fiasco because Sari had convinced Kate earlier that she needed her ears pierced too and Sari wanted Kate to go first. Kate was nervous and I kept telling her she didn't need to get them done. Anyhow, Kate kept insisting she did want them pierced, but when I'd tell her that the nice lady needed to put a little black dot on her ear to know where to pierce them she'd cover her ears with her hands. I thought it was because she didn't want it done, but finally we figured out it was because she didn't want a
black dot. When I told her they would put a
purple dot, she was just fine. She did cry for a second after they did it. Then it was Sari's turn. She did really well. She didn't even flinch when they pierced her ears. They messed up on one ear though. It was a few millimeters off, which is a lot on a kid earlobe so they had to redo it. Sari was pretty good about it after I told her she could choose a treat if she let them pierce her ear again. After this piercing experience I hope Leah and Lucy will wait until they're 8 and 6 or older to get their ears pierced!
On Sunday evening we had a family party. I made a watermelon cake for that party. It was flavored like watermelon as well as looking like one.

Sari is a great kid. She is very obedient and I can always trust what she is telling me as the truth. Sleep is still very vital for her mood/behavior like it has been since she was a baby. As long as I keep my Sari well rested, she is really helpful and fun to be around! One of her favorite things is playing with cousins and friends. She LOVES playing with kids. She isn't very interested in TV or movies. Her maximum TV time is about 20 minutes in a day. If she happens to see a craft made on some TV show she immediately tries to replicate it and usually does a really good job of it. She likes to play on the computer occasionally as well and likes to take care of her
Webkinz animals.

Wow Becky...a friend party with 10 kids all 6 and younger...you are amazing! It's crazy how fast time flies...6 years old already!!! Happy Birthday Sari!
I am with you on infrequent parties. They are always fun, but chaotic is the right word. We took 14 ten year old boys to bowling and laser tag and I was exhausted and sweating by the end. Happy Birthday Sari! I love the thing about the crafts, how fun!
I love that cake. It's super cute!
