Short Lived

Kate's ears are no longer pierced. It is amazing how fast they healed. Last week on Tuesday, I was at a YW activity. My phone had turned itself off and when I realized it around 9pm I turned it back on to find I had a message. I listened to the message and it was Scott telling me that Sari and Kate had bumped into each other while they were running to answer the front door and Kate's earring had ripped out. My first thought was that it had ripped all the way through her earlobe, but luckily it had just pulled out. When I got home Kate was asleep and it had been nearly 2 hours since it happened. I tried to put the earring back in while she was asleep, but I could only get it in half way. She'd start to wake up and cry when I'd try to push it through further. I gave up after trying about three times. The next morning I asked Kate if she wanted to wait for the ear to heal and then pierce it again. She was not about to get it pierced again. She just wanted me to take the other earring out so she "wouldn't look weird." I'm not sure when she'll want to go through the piercing part to have pierced ears - not for several years, I'm sure.
