First Day of School!
As soon as Sari and Kate get home from school I can't get anything done. I used to be able to get a few things done in the afternoon, but as soon as they're home they demand my undivided attention the rest of the night. Kate is still adjusting to being in Kindergarten full day, so she is pretty needy. They also act like they have been starved to death when they get home. I keep trying to think of really filling snacks to give them, but it is never enough. I end up feeding them one thing after another for at least an hour after they're home.
Every morning, Kate tells me she hates school and she doesn't want to go. Yesterday she refused to ride the bus so I had to drive her to school. She also refused to walk to her classroom herself like she's supposed to, so I had to walk her there and then her teacher had to physically pull Kate into the classroom crying. It was sad. I was anxious to see her after school that day but while I was waiting on the front porch for her bus to pull up, it drove by without stopping. At first I didn't know what to think. I quickly called the school and they gave me the bus dispatch phone number. I called them, and they radioed her bus driver. Her driver told dispatch that he already dropped Kate off. The dispatcher told the bus driver I was on the phone and he didn't drop her off. He made the driver pull over and check for Kate. Sure enough, she was sitting on the bus. Luckily, she didn't seem too traumatized by the whole thing. She was a little bit emotional right when she got off the bus, but snapped out of it pretty quick. Hopefully, she keeps adjusting to the long school day and the bus driver won't forget her again. One thing's for sure, I'll be watching from the front porch every day.

Poor Kate. Jack is having a hard time with first grade and they both demand all my attention when hey get home too. Weird. I hope things get better.
