Leah has been waiting for her birthday for months! Since Kate's birthday in May, she has impatiently waited through all the rest of her sisters' and parents' birthdays. About 6 weeks ago, Leah was having trouble staying in her own bed and kept getting in bed with Scott and I. I was quite pregnant and uncomfortable and didn't appreciate the extra person in bed and the interrupted sleep. I had the great idea to motivate Leah with a family birthday party and friend birthday party. She got a sticker for each night that she stayed in her own bed. I later modified it so that if she went and got in Sari's bed with her she still got a sticker as long as she didn't wake anyone up when she moved beds. It worked great, and she earned both parties! We had her family party at Julane's house the Sunday before her birthday and she had a Costco pumpkin pie for her cake.
Leah was ready to open some of her presents first thing in the morning!
Scott got Leah a Chia Pet. He likes to call her Leah Chia. We have been trying to grow it, but with the limited sunlight and freezing temperatures, it isn't doing as good as it could be. We'll have to try growing it again in the summer.
Grandma arrived at 12:30pm on Leah's birthday, just in time to help me with her friend party! I kept it pretty minimal on purpose since I was 9 months pregnant and scheduled to be induced the next day. While everyone was arriving we had a bunch of balloons blown up for them to play with. They had a blast. The little girls kept saying, "this is the best party ever!" Pretty funny.
We painted the girls' nails and faces.
