Three Little Ducklings!

When my mom came to stay with our kids while Scott and I ran the Big Horn Trail run, our ducklings hatched.  The kids were excited grandma got to be in on the action.  The ducklings stayed in the nest for about 24 hours while they were all getting hatched.  We were able to see them walk around a little bit on the evening of June 16th.  Then that morning they had already left the nest.  Google says the mother leaves the nest to lead them to water after they are one or two days old.  They sure were cute!  I'm surprised we were able to leave mother duck alone enough to let her sit on her nest enough.  There were two eggs that had mostly formed looking ducks in them but that didn't make it.  The mother duck pecked them open.
We put deer netting around our garden this year.  It has worked like a charm.  No bunnies or deer stealing my vegetables!  It has been wonderful to have a full harvest again!

Leah was thrilled to find a toad in our garden!  We kept him in the garage in a bucket one day, but then I convinced Leah to let him go back into the garden to live.  She sure loves her critters and this summer hasn't been lacking!
