Ian's epipen was about to expire and we wanted to test him for other nuts so we went to the allergist again. He tested him for a bunch of tree nuts, peanuts, and eggs. He's still allergic to peanuts and we found out he is also allergic to cashews and pistachios. The doctor said because of cross contamination and things to tell people he is allergic to tree nuts and peanuts. He's not supposed to eat any nuts at all. We had to go have blood drawn to test it for an egg allergy since his skin test came back negative. I got a call a couple days later saying that it came back negative. So he is supposed to do a "food challenge" at the doctor's office. It would cost around $300 and we'd have to sit there for around 3 hours. I asked them how they do it and they just said they feed him 1/8 tsp of egg and wait half an hour. If there's no reaction, then they have him eat the rest of the egg and then have us stay there for 2 hours. I figured I could do that at home - at least with the egg. He ate egg twice as a baby and it just made him vomit. I don't think he'd have a crazy allergic reaction that we needed to be at the doctor's for. I haven't tried it yet, maybe I'll wait a while longer to see. He was pretty good about getting his back poked so many times. They gave him a sucker, a little motorcycle, and an army man. He was pretty happy about all that.
