Family Ski Day!

The kids had their last ski lesson on February 16th.  We made it a family ski day and had a great time!  The whole Combs family came this time too so we all had fun together.  I'm really impressed with how quickly they are improving.  I can't believe how well Leah can ski now.  We went down Lazy M multiple times.  I did make a mistake the first time we went down though.  Leah had been skiing with Kyle for the first couple runs of the day.  I hadn't given her any tips or reminders yet when we decided to do Lazy M.  We started off down the mountain and soon she found that it was too steep for her snowplow to slow her down sufficiently.  She got going really fast.  I was skiing behind her screaming at her to keep her plow and to dig in hard and STOP!!  I didn't want to tell her to turn because we were going so fast and I was afraid she'd get out of her plow and be totally out of control or catch an edge and cartwheel through the air in a big crash.  Luckily she worked up the strength and stopped.  Whew!!  That was not fun.  After that I reminded her to make big turns and gave her some tips on how to make it easier to do that on steeper slopes and she was good to go the rest of the day.  We also were able to take Sari and Kate along with Katie and Sharon on their first black diamond a couple times.  The kids love skiing as much as Scott and I do.  It's so much fun!  Next year we'll teach Lucy to ski and I think Ian will get the earliest start the year after that when he's 4.  If only it didn't cost so much...
