I Didn't See it Coming....

That wonderfully hard, high maintenance stage of the 2 or (as I have found out) the 3 year old mischief. I thought we made it past all that without having to experience it with Kate. I was wrong. She just decided to wait until she was older to start in on the fun. She has been pretty hard and unreasonable lately. She throws fits about everything, makes horrible messes, and changes her clothes at least 5 times daily (including her underwear). I wash some of Kate's underwear in every load I do to keep up with her.
This afternoon, after she had already been disciplined for painting her own nails, I realized I hadn't seen her for a while so I went to check on her. The smell of nail polish got pretty strong as I went up the stairs. I was really hoping it was still from the nail polish episode earlier in the day. I found her in the bathroom. She had the sink plugged and was washing her hands while water ran down the cabinet, flooding the bathroom. Her nails had been painted - again, this time including half her fingers and some of her hair, not to mention the kitchen counter. (Thank goodness it wasn't the carpet.) I need to find a new hiding place for the nail polish. I put her in time out while I was cleaning up. After a few minutes she started crying she needed to go potty so I let her go while I went downstairs to get the nail polish off the counter. When I came back upstairs, she had used the entire roll of toilet paper to wipe. Thank goodness I found her before she flushed the toilet. The last thing I needed was an overflowing toilet.
It's a good thing she still has her sweet moments during the day. Before all the nail polish/flooding drama today, she helped me fold laundry for quite a while. She folded all the rags in the load for me and there were at least 20. I just need to find more things to keep her occupied and out of trouble!

This age is so hard! This is when Gavin started drawing on everything, and completely ruined his wainscoting. This is also around the age when the girls gave their animals a bath and flooded their carpet. It's so fun!
