Skyline 10k @ 10k

Picking up our race packets the morning of the race.

Scott and I ran the Skyline 10k @ 10k last Saturday. It was SO HARD. I didn't think it would be too bad but you could really tell a difference trying to run and breathe at that altitude. I got a side ache around mile 4 that took a while to get rid of, , I think due to the lack of oxygen in the air. The first 3k you had to run up 700 feet to the summit, then the last 7k was down 900 feet. Scott and I ran together and our time was 1 hr. 9 min. 42 sec. There aren't many hills around our house so I didn't do any training on hills which meant I was pretty sore the next day. After the race was over, they bussed us back to the starting line and it was pretty smelly crammed into a bus full of people that had just run a hard 6 miles. Yuk! Scott said he was going to suggest to the organizers to give out breath mints and deodorant at the end of the race. :)
