Kate's First Ski Day

The kids had President's Day off of school(Feb. 17th) and Kate kept asking me when she'd get to go skiing so I decided to take her.  It was just Sari, Kate, and I.  Scott had to stay home to work and he watched Leah and Lucy from home for part of the day too.  Scott's mom watched them in the afternoon.
Kate did great skiing.  We stayed on the magic carpet for an hour or so, but Sari was dying to get on a lift and Kate was doing great. The only problem was that because of the wind, the beginner lift, Miami Beach, had to have an adult rider with every child.  That meant Sari had to ride up with an adult stranger every time.  She did NOT enjoy that.  So I decided we could go up the triple chair lift that had slightly harder runs.  The beginning of the run was slightly too steep for Kate's skiing level.  She'd get going a bit too fast and crash every time, but after the initial hill she did great.  The run got easier after that first little bit.  Sari, on the other hand, did awesome!  She did that steeper part of the run with no problem.  I can't wait till they are good at skiing and we can really enjoy doing it together.  If only it weren't so expensive......

Kate said she really liked skiing, but she did seem a little stressed out that night and the next day.  Sometimes trying new things are unsettling for Kate.  She says she wants to go again though, so that's a good sign.
