Ian's Blessing

December 28th, 2014
We got permission to bless Ian in my mom's ward while we were in Utah.  Scott noticed Herschel Pedersen sitting on the stand when we sat down in sacrament meeting.  He nudged me and told me he thought it would be nice to invite him to stand in the circle to bless Ian. It was cool, Herschel was the temple sealer who married us 12 years ago.
After the sacrament meeting, we went back to my parent's house for lunch.  Ryan and Kris and their family came, so did Pam and Jessica.  Travis and Kristin and their families were there also, of course.  It was fun to see Jessica for a minute.  I think I hadn't seen her for over a year.  She is expecting a baby and is really excited.

Family of 7!  Can you believe it?

 Ian's Blessing
Through the power and authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood which we hold, we take this infant in our arms to give him a name and a blessing.  The name by which he shall be known is Ian Scott Worthington.
At this time Ian, we desire to give you a blessing.  We bless you with health and strength in your body that you will continue to grow and develop in the way that your Father in Heaven sees fit for you.  We bless that you might enjoy the experiences in life that you were sent here to experience that might prepare you to return to live with your Father in Heaven, with your Savior, and with your family.   We bless you that you will have the desire to seek out truth and knowledge in both things temporal and spiritual.  We bless you that you will have the desire to come to know the Savior Jesus Christ and to serve him throughout your life.

We bless you that you will be a peacemaker in your home and among your associates throughout your life.  We bless you with the desire to obey God’s laws and commandments, that you will prepare yourself in all things, to seek the covenants and ordinances of the gospel to prepare you to become a missionary, that you might serve the Lord by sharing the gospel with your brothers and sisters.  We bless you that you will have the desire to go to the temple and to prepare yourself to take a worthy young woman with you to the temple that you might make your own family when the time is appropriate.  We bless you with a knowledge of our love for you and with the knowledge of the concerned love that your ancestors and extended family have for you.  We pronounce these blessings upon you Ian, and do so in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
