We were all very excited for Grandma Pack to come visit! Leah and Lucy would ask every night how many more days, and it started out around 40 days so they had quite the countdown. She flew in Wednesday night just before midnight. The kids didn't know she would be here when they woke up so that was a fun surprise. The kids had their Valentine's day parties on Thursday so my mom watched Lucy and Ian while I went to volunteer in Sari's class. Grandma took them to a movie after they got out of school while I stayed at home with napping Ian. While my mom was here, it was SUPER windy. I hate the wind here. It stays around for weeks in the late winter and early spring. One of the days we went to Scheels. We were there for 4 hours, and it was pretty entertaining. Grandma bought all the girls leggings and I got some Birkenstocks! The Ferris wheel was a hit and we ate lunch there also. On Saturday morning, I went for a run and Sari and Kate went for a walk with my mom. We all agreed it was the worst walk/run ever! We were nearly blown away and frozen solid. It didn't start out so bad but got incredibly windy quick. Sunday we made sugar cookies. I hardly ever make them, but they are so good! We went to Costco and the Pita Mill for lunch before we took her to the airport. We stopped at Ace right before and let the kids choose some candy. That was a good strategy because once we dropped grandma off at the airport it distracted them pretty well. No one even cried (not until bedtime at least). That's an improvement. I'll have to remember the candy strategy in the future. It softens the departure. We are always glad when grandma comes to visit!
