The Wegners in our ward were moving back to Texas. They gave us their pet hamster, Zeus. It was pretty handy getting a free pet and all the supplies to go with him! We had to use a glove to get him in and out or he'd bite. Ian and Lucy love him the most. One day Averett was over playing and I realized they had been quiet for too long. I heard Ian say something about shampoo and I went running. I found them in the bathroom with poor zeus in a baby bathtub covered in soap and shampoo struggling to keep his little nose above water. I got him out and he was completely limp and lifeless. I rinsed the soap off him and blow dried him and he started to perk up. He ended up being ok in the end. We did have to keep a lock on his cage to prevent Ian from getting him out though. Fast forward 5 months however, , , we were busy getting into the swing of school and all extracurricular things, helping the Olsen's clean their house to move, and had put Zues into the storage room so we could show our house without a hamster front and center. Leah and Lucy had cleaned his cage on Wednesday, played with him Friday, and then we didn't think of him again until Tuesday. By that time, it was too late. He didn't have any food and he didn't make it. I am so sad about it. I feel so terrible, the poor little guy. Lucy was pretty sad about it too.
Ava's family had a duck they took to their ranch but while it was little she brought it around to play a couple of times.
