Vaccinations and Valentine's Day
As I mentioned in my last post, Leah had her vaccinations last Monday. It has been pretty hard on her this time. I think it's the DTaP that is the main culprit. I keep getting out the fact sheet and reading the possible side effects trying to decide how long they will last. She has the fever, fussiness(crying A LOT), tiredness, diarrhea, and poor appetite that the sheet describes happening to about 1 in 4 children. She just lays on me all day with her head down. It's pretty sad, , to make matters worse a cold has also taken over so she is also congested and coughing. I don't remember my other kids having such a hard time with a vaccination like this. The only other memorable aftermath of shots were with Kate's 3 year old ones. She was VERY irritable and emotional for about two weeks after. Anyhow, needless to say I am home from church today holding Leah.

On to Valentine's Day. Scott and I were able to get away yesterday afternoon during Leah's nap for a little Valentine's Day date. We went to Bruges Waffles & Frites in downtown Salt Lake. It was so good. A Belgian man owns and operates it and he is so friendly. I got a cinnamon liege waffle with strawberries, whipped creme fraiche, drizzled with dark Belgian chocolate. It was SO good. If I get a chance to go again I think I'll try the vanilla waffle with the fraiche and strawberries. The chocolate was really good, but overpowered the other flavors. Scott got a sandwich named The Machine Gun. It was on a French baguette with two lamb sausage, topped with frites and a special sauce. I can't remember the name of the sauce now, but it is made with sweet yellow peppers, basil, cayenne pepper, mayo, and a few other ingredients. Yum! The place is small and most of the space to eat is out on the sidewalk in front of the store. It was a nice sunny day and we enjoyed ourselves outside. We love our food and love to try out new places. It was definitely a winner and a great date!

It's terrible when the kids have to get immunized! I am always worried about all the other side effects that come with getting the shots. Hopefully she gets feeling better soon! How are you feeling? Have you started to feel those first little flutters? That's my favorite part about being prego!
