Leah's 4th Birthday!

Leah has been waiting for her birthday since July or August.  During every even or holiday we had before her birthday she couldn't understand why it wasn't her birthday we were celebrating.  Finally the much anticipated day(November 6th) arrived.  I have had a hard time keeping the day of Leah's birthday straight for some reason.  I kept thinking it was the 11th, then the 9th for some reason.  I think I finally have it down and won't get mixed up anymore though.  Luckily for me(and her), I can remember Lucy's since she shares Scott's birth date.

Leah and Lucy didn't wake up until Sari and Kate had already left for the bus.  I let Leah open two or three presents first thing in the morning.  Lucy was so cute and excited for Leah.

That afternoon we had some friends over to play.  I made cotton candy for all of them.  It may not have been the best idea for me because the cotton candy maker is not very fast.  I had eight kids around me asking repeatedly if it was their turn for cotton candy yet.  I finally did make it through all of them (twice), and then they played with Leah's new princess play dough set.
I tried to make a pumpkin roll for her cake.  She said she wanted a pumpkin cake, but I wasn't very successful.  It tasted great, but didn't make a nice spiral design like it was supposed to.
Leah's birthday was on a Wednesday and the following Sunday we had all the cousins and aunts and uncles over for cake and ice cream.  Leah was thrilled to have more presents to open and people to play with.
Leah is really pretty nice to Lucy.  I have a feeling they will have a bit more harmonious relationship with each other than Sari and Kate's is.  Leah doesn't like to get her hair done.  It's hard to get her to come into the bathroom when it's her turn.  She loves television.  She'd watch the same movie over and over if I let her.  She says her favorite movie is The Little Mermaid and Smurfs, but really she likes it all.  Lately she tells me all about whatever it was that she last watched, usually it's about a funny part and she is laughing the whole time she's trying to talk.  She likes the tween shows her sisters' watch too. Luckily, I can entice her away from the television pretty easily with anything relating to coloring, painting, playdough, etc.  I got her washable paints (not watercolors) that she loves.  She'll sit and paint or play with play dough for a couple hours.  I guess she has a pretty good attention span for a 4 year old.  She likes to go to her coop preschool and loves to cuddle and hug.  She is by far our best cuddler.  She regularly forgets to wear underwear and is so skinny her pants fall down a bit.  We need to work on that one.  :)  She is pretty willing to help me and particularly so when I preface any request with, "Leah, you're so helpful! Will you ....."  We love Leah and had fun celebrating her long anticipated birthday!
