Our ship, Carnival Glory, in the background at in Cozumel, Mexico.
Wednesday we ported at Belize. We rode a bus for an hour or so to the jungle to tube through some caves. You start out the excursion by walking through the jungle for a mile or so. That was one of my favorite parts. It was cool walking through the jungle. Then we got on tubes and floated through some huge caves. The river was pretty slow and our tour guide had to paddle us through. There were some cool formations and things in the cave. After we had a Belizian lunch of boiled chicken and rice and beans. It was actually very good. That night I was sick and in the bathroom a fair amount. At first I thought it was the food, but I think it was actually a virus. It lasted the rest of the cruise and unfortunately spread through a bunch more people.
Thursday, our port was in Honduras. Carnival owns a private beach right there so the port is called Mahogany Bay, with Mahogany Beach within walking distance of the ship. We all walked down to the beach and enjoyed some sun and snorkeling! Scott really enjoyed floating on his back in the water too.
Friday we ported at Grand Cayman. We decided to go to the Barrier Reef to snorkel. They take you out by boat and let you snorkel for an hour or so. It was really great! The fish were huge, colorful, and in abundance. It felt like you were about to lay on the coral/reef. It was the best snorkeling I've done so far.
Saturday we had another relaxing day at sea before our vacation was over. Sadly, they kicked us off the ship on Sunday. We had a while to wait in the airport before our flights. The guys struck up a game of rook.
Leading up to the cruise I was nervous about leaving the kids. It took right up until we left to iron out the details of who was watching them. Candace and Steve ended up staying at our house at night with our kids from Saturday-Thursday afternoon. During the day Candace took them to Julane's to hang out and eat dinner, and they slept here at night. Thursday evening my mom came to take over. They all said none of them seemed to miss us too much so that's good. The kids LOVED when grandma got here. They went to the zoo, shopping, colored Easter eggs, and had their big dance recital. I was sad to miss the recital. Candace really had her work cut out for her because my kids came down with a virus shortly after we left. She had to deal with a very messy Lucy who had diarrhea, and Kate started throwing up Saturday during the night. Luckily it seemed like only a 24 hour thing, but Candace and Steve didn't get away without catching it themselves. We're so lucky to have such great family!
