We invited the Jeppersons over to carve pumpkins with us. Little did I know I would be getting sick that night. I felt fine in the morning, then I felt a little sick and it kept getting worse and worse as the night wore on. I had also invited the Mechams, Olsens, and Viets over the next day (Halloween) for dinner. I made dinner in a pumpkin, which turned out really good and didn't give anyone else my sickness but involved A LOT of hand washing during the preparation. When we were in Utah I had a crown started on my tooth. After we got back to Billings, it really turned into a tooth ache. I ended up having to get a root canal on it. It really hurt afterwards for several days, until I got this sickness which turned out to be strep throat. I didn't start taking antibiotics until Kate came down with it three days after I started with it. By then I was miserable. I felt so horrible. Antibiotics are a miracle. I could tell a noticeable difference within 12 hours of taking my first dose. After I got over strep throat I was able to notice that my tooth with the root canal was still hurting. As I fretted over that, we were lucky enough to catch a stomach flu. Leah started with it, followed by Ian and I. Luckily the fun stopped with the three of us, but Ian threw up for a week straight. He followed up the flu with an ear infection which we have learned make him vomit repeatedly until we can get him on antibiotics. They actually gave him an antibiotic shot this time because he really wasn't keeping anything down. After everyone recovered from that, I decided to go back to the Endodontist to see what was going on with my tooth. He thought that tooth was getting some pain from the tooth below it (referred pain). I was having a shooting pain in the other tooth, but just was hoping it was caused by the root canal tooth. No such luck. I needed another root canal. This brings us to three days before Thanksgiving. Luckily this second root canal made my tooth feel almost immediately better. The recovery time was great with it. In fact my first root canal tooth still hurt for about another week longer than the second. Thankfully, it is feeling mostly better. I'm afraid my tooth clenching at night keeps it hurting a little. All that cost some serious $$$, and some piece of mind. I felt like I was never going to get feeling back to normal. I didn't work out for the entire month of November. What a rough month! I'm glad that is behind us.
It's so nice most of the kids are a little older now and are A LOT more self sufficient with things like cleaning the guts out of a pumpkin!
Sari and Audrey
What a cute little boy!
We went trick-or-treating with the Viets and Combs after we ate dinner. The kids got SO MUCH candy. It was great weather. I think Sari and Kate were out for nearly 3 hours. I went home before too long with Ian since I wasn't feeling well.
