An Injury

Lucy was playing at the Olsen's at the beginning of May and their big solid wood bench tipped over onto her foot.  Shaunie brought her home screaming and crying.  I couldn't get her to stop crying for almost an hour, even with bribes of popsicles and chocolate milk.  It got pretty swollen and bruised and she still wouldn't walk on it the next morning.  The mom we carpool with was going to pick her up for preschool, but I couldn't imagine sending her when she couldn't walk!  I decided to take her to a same day care place to get it checked out.  They x-rayed it and said it didn't look broken so they just said to rest, ice, wrap, and elevate it.  They gave us an ace bandage and Lucy could limp around a little with it on.  We went to her preschool Mother's Day activity straight from the doctor.  Lucy was very relieved we made it in time for that!  She started walking better on her foot a couple days later as long as she had ibuprofen.  After about 6 hours she consistently asked for medicine for about a week.  It will still get a little sore sometimes when she's too rough on it, but she's mostly back to normal now!  This picture is actually about two weeks after the initial injury.
