Carving Pumpkins

We carved pumpkins on Tuesday night.  It went really smoothly - Lucy was just old enough to not wreak too much havoc.  It turns out Leah is a super pumpkin guts remover.  She diligently sat and scooped all the guts out of her pumpkin and then moved on to help Kate with her enormous one. Grandma Worthington and Julane took the kids earlier this month to Walmart to choose their pumpkins.  Kate chose the biggest one she could find and Leah chose the smallest.  Julane tried to get Leah to choose a bigger one, but she really wanted the little one.  These kids sure have definite opinions about everything.

She could practically climb in this pumpkin (Kate's).

The resulting jack-o-lanterns.  Sari designed and carved her own, Kate's is the top one with two teeth - we tried to figure out how to make a face with the four middle teeth missing (to look like Kate), but couldn't get it to look right, Leah's is the little one - carved by Scott, and Lucy wanted a 'mean' pumpkin so hers is the one with fangs.  I wish we had more time to do things like this as a little family.  It seems like Scott always has work to catch up on and we do a lot with the extended family otherwise.  We need to start being better about carving out time just for us and our girls.
