San Francisco Trip - Day 1

We planned a trip to San Francisco with Lisa and Alan.  It was so awesome!  I figured with the college kids still home, it was a great time to get away.  Makelle watched our kids Friday and Saturday then Whitney and Lee took over Sunday morning through late Monday night when we got home.  Friday morning we had to be at the airport at 4:30am.  We caught our flight fine and had a layover in Seattle.  It was foggy in San Francisco so our next flight kept getting delayed.  We were supposed to get there at 10am, but arrived around noon.  On our way to meet Lisa and Alan at the rental car counter we walked onto the air train right where they were!  That was a happy coincidence.  We got our car and went to check out our Airbnb rental.  It was a great place to stay.  We stopped and ate some food at a close yummy Mexican place and then headed for The Golden Gate Bridge.  We walked a little way across the bridge.  It was really windy and super crowded with people.  The traffic  zooming by was noisy too, so it wasn't as pleasant as I had imagined, but was still a fun experience.  After that we headed to the Muir Woods.  I think this was my favorite part of the trip.  The redwood trees are amazing!  I had never been to a redwood forest so I really wanted to do this.  We happened to get there just after all the tour buses were leaving, but before a lot of people were off of work so it was the perfect uncrowded time!  We went and found a restaurant in Sausalito on our way back to the City.  We stopped to get a look at the Golden Gate Bridge in the dark on the way back and got dessert at a cupcake place.  We also drove down Lombard Street.  It is so nice being on a trip with good friends and without kids!  Such a nice break.
