Monday (22nd) Scott writing- The owner of the whale house came and checked us in and gave us an orientation of the island of Oahu and of the sites specific to the North Shore. We got on the beach cruiser bikes from the shed of awesome beach supplies and rode on a trail along the shoreline, going about 5 miles. We came back and had a delicious breakfast of fresh pineapple, papaya, and soursop (I had eaten this delicious tropical fruit in Guatemala, so when I saw it at the swap meet, I knew we had to buy it. *The Guatemalans call this fruit annona.) We also had a delicious macadamia nut pastry from Tom's bakery, courtesy of the owners of the whale house. After breakfast, we packed lunches and went boogie boarding at Castles beach within Malekahana State Park. The water felt so great! So warm and so smooth and refreshing. It felt warmer in the water than out of it because it was so windy. The waves were great and fun to ride - not too big, not too small. On the way back, we stopped at Turtle Bay Resort to look at some coves where we might go snorkeling. We came back and showered in the outdoor shower and headed back out to Sunset Beach on the cruiser bikes. There, we saw a bunch of skilled surfers riding enormous pipeline waves. We watched the sun go down, grabbed the car, and went to dinner at Seven Brothers, a burger join in Laie. It was delicious! We went to a cheap outlet store after and got some clothes for Becky, including a skirt she can wear to the temple tomorrow. We drove up to look at the temple. What a beautiful site, to see it lit up at night. I look forward to going there tomorrow. I feel so close to Dad, seeing the Laie Temple and the Honolulu Tabernacle, and I think its just so cool to be here where he served as a missionary. We came back and relaxed in the brand new hot tub. What a fun, relaxing day!!
Tuesday (23rd) - We got up in the morning and went for a 4 mile run stopping every so often to see the different beaches. Then we got ready and went to the temple. We did sealings. The celestial room was nice and had some pretty colored vases in there I liked. After a photo in front of the temple we headed to The Polynesian Cultural Center. We ate a lunch we packed first. We took the canoe ride first then enjoyed all the different culture presentations. It rained on and off all day but we had our ponchos so that was good. The Luau was good and had yummy food and the night show Ha, Breath of Life was awesome. We went home straight to bed because we ad a really early morning the next day.
